OLD TOWN OF BAR - SKADAR LAKE CRUISE

OLD TOWN OF BAR - SKADAR LAKE CRUISE
A unique opportunity to get to know the city that has two magical shores, 46 km of coastline on the Adriatic Sea and 65 km on Lake Skadar. In one day you will have the opportunity to enjoy the variety of equally beautiful coasts.
At the very entrance to the new part of the city, you can see the Orthodox Cathedral of St. John Vladimir from the 21st century. The temple is dominated by 7 large crosses. The central gilded cross 4.60 meters high, weighing 800 kg, with the highest height of 40 m, is unique in Europe and in the world. The cross is unique and modeled after the famous Vladimir's cross, the greatest relic of Bar from ancient times, a symbol of faith, love and hope. One of the most beautiful squares in Montenegro is arranged around the temple.
Bar – a modern city with wide boulevards, surrounded by Mediterranean vegetation. Numerous cultural and historical monuments testify to the stormy history of this city, the most important of which is the Old Town of Bar, 4 km from the sea coast.
Tour of the Old Town of Bar - the largest urban agglomeration in ruins in Montenegro. It is over 2500 years old. It is the bearer of turbulent history and medieval civilizations that left part of their culture here: Venetians, Byzantines, Romans, Slovenians, Turks. The city still contains the remains of numerous churches of different styles from different eras. That is why it is rightly said that the region it is a synthesis of the Mediterranean and the Orient. Unlike other towns on the coast, Old town of Bar is about 4 km from the coast. It lies on a steep, inaccessible cliff on three sides, at the foot of Mount Rumija. Although the city is now destroyed, it is still one of the most visited cultural and historical sites in Montenegro.
The location of Old town Bar offers visitors the opportunity to experience the panorama of green fields that surround Bar, the new part of the city, the port, the open sea and the massif of the Rumija mountain from the walls of the old ramparts. Then a walk along the old cobblestone street, which we often call "our Montmartre", with traditional restaurants and souvenir shops...
Tour of the Old Olive Tree at Mirovica is a natural monument which has been protected by law since 1963. It is 2,242 years old and is considered to be the oldest tree in Europe. The trunk is 10 meters wide. According to legend, meetings of feuding families used to be held around the olive tree and this is where they used to make up, which is why this place is still called Mirovica (the place of peace).
Departure to the shores of Lake Skadar and Virpazar – a town on three bridges, from where we depart by boat for an unforgettable trip on the lake. Lake Skadar is one of those places that leave you breathless. Lake Skadar is the largest lake in the Balkans. Since 1983, the lake has been a National Park. It is home to more than 52 fish species (carp, bleak, eel…) and 280 bird species, the largest wetland bird reservation in Europe, and the last habitat of the pelican, with many blooming white and yellow water lilies. The many island lakes are home to old fortresses and medieval monasteries, and the fishing villages are hidden in protected coves. These are typical winegrowing villages where every household grows the Vranac grape variety and makes the famous Crmnica wine. Grmožur Fortress is also known as "Montenegrin Alcatraz". Today, it is home to cormorants and pelicans.
Swimming and lunch are possible at a fairytale place - the beach, which can only be reached by boat.
In the evening, return to the hotel and have free time to walk around the city.
